First Day of Preschool Quote

In the car just before we pulled into the parking lot, Hazel blurted in a panic, "Mom, what if I don't know how to learn?!!!"

It's nice that there are certain things in life that are just covered.  You know?  Like you don't even have to think about it or work on it or practice.  Some things are just built in.  Would there were more...

At bed time, the night after my daughters first day in 2nd grade, she broke down in tears. Worried, I asked what was wrong. She looked at me and in all seriousness said "mommy, I'm afraid I'm forgetting who I am." puzzled by what just came out of my 6 year olds mouth, I asked her what she meant. I just feel like I'm losing myself and I'm forgetting who I am. My sweet child was not yet accustomed to the routines of her new classroom or what expectations her teacher might have. I told her she would feel better about school and herself in a few days. She did until she realized he'd teacher "must have forgotten or doesn't know we're supposed to have homework." one student was so brave as to ask the teacher when they would get homework. It amazes me for a minutewhen my child says something like that. Then I remember that they are people too. They're just littler and learning things and we get to witness it and help guide them through this crazy journey called life. What a job we have but gosh it's amazing.

The question itself is the question of a born learner.
