We Really Did Have a Good Time

Today was the day we were to come back home from the Outer Banks.
This post is dedicated to our friends, the Tuttles.  Just proof that it wasn't all as horrific (not even close) as it ended.

Body boarding near the Pier, Hazel was FEARLESS!

Picnic at Bodie Lighthouse

Sunset at the Sand Dunes

Matt V.'s kite

Portraits caught on the Ferry to Ocracoke

Our first ride out onto the beach, almost all to ourselves!

Lucy, not a fan of the spotlight.

Sarah and I tearing it up in the waves.

The Kiddie Pool of the barrier islands.

And, really, it was a super happy ending.  1st grade here she comes!!!

You have a great attitude about this! When my Luci almost drowned last summer and ended up in the PICU (a non-swimmer held her under the water),I threw away all the bathing suits from that day and we have never been back to our neighborhood pool since. I can't even bring myself to drive past it so I take the long way home. It's still painful to watch my kids swim and it's been a year.

Oh, Jordan. I just got a phone call from Tyler telling me what happened to Lucy (B Wise called and filled him in), so of course I ran to my computer and here I sit, crying and wishing I could come hug you, and feeling so thankful that Lucy (brave and strong) is doing okay. She is a little hero. One and a half feet of water? What a story. Thank you for letting us know that despite the awfulness, there were still blessings all around - may that continue to be the case as Lucy heals.

Sending you lots of love and prayers.

She's so adorable. We just saw you on the Today Show! What a doll that she forgave the shark. I'm so glad it did end well for you.

We feel so honored to have a whole post dedicated to us! It was a perfect day on that beautiful beach, too perfect I suppose. We had a blast though and are so incredibly thankful that it didn't turn out any worse, prayers have for sure been answered.

I have been reading your blog for two years and thoroughly enjoy your posts. I was horrified when I read what happened to Lucy. My heart breaks for you. From the update, it sounds like she is doing well and will make a full recovery. Coincidentally, I was sipping my coffee watching the today show and there you were with LUCY. She looks fantastic! Prayers! Heidi

I first read about the accident on Katy's blog, then saw you on the Today show. Lucy is such a brave little girl. I was glad to see her acting like a shy little giggly 6 year old. Hope all is going well.

My sister, Heather, told me to watch The Today Show today. Your little girl is such a sweetheart! What a brave lady and so inspiring. Best of luck to your whole family while you deal with all of this. I'm so glad she's going to be okay.
