Bad News, Good News

The above picture is of our chimney sweep "sweeping" one of our chimneys.  There is more than one thing disappointing about this picture.  First, it looks nothing like the lovable sooty Bert dancing with Mary Poppins over the rooftops of London.  Second, our chimney sweep told us that our fireplaces are not up to code thus unsuitable for hosting fires.  This is very sad news for this time of year.

And, so that I don't leave you totally down and out with that headline, here is a very happy picture.  A bunch of broccoli from the garden eaten over the weekend.  The good news?  It was SUPER yummy.  Don't let them tell you all vegetables are created equal.  They aren't.

fires really are the seasonal icing on the cake. sorry. broccoli is our favorite and that bunch looks divine.

p.s. thank you for saying my hair is pretty. I've been having thoughts of scissors and that made me happy to hear.

Although he doesn't look like Bert (which is a bummer) you can take some solace that he doesn't look like the wicked Chimney sweep Mr. Gamfield of Oliver Twist fame or Blake's pitiful infant sweeps crying "weep weep". So you will be without fire (which is a disappointment) but also without
19th century human degradation (which is nice).

I'm glad you can the broccoli through the soot! I have been thinking a lot about you guys lately. I often want to know your strategies for living the ER life. Jason works all nights now in an attempt to have sort of schedule. I am actually loving it, but it is surely not a normal way to function! Take care.

How cool that you have a sooty Bert. Not cool that your fireplaces can't fire. So sorry. Can Bert fix that?

Oh, that broccoli! Yep, you're right. All vegetables really aren't created equal.
