Seth's Bed: Before and After

Seth's been sleeping on a mattress on the floor.  Awhile ago I found this 100-year-old iron bed at the flea market.  I talked the guy down to $160!  We sandblasted it and then just put a few coats of clear polyurethane on it.  Craig says it looks like one of those bike racks you can chain your ride to.  I like that.  Is it too tall, though?  I'm happy my boy has a bed now.  And it's a full.  Read: guest-ready.  Of course.

I loved your house tour!!! And I have a question about this awesome bed. What did you add to the bed on the base - slats of some sort? (so his mattress was supported)

Hi! Found you through BLOOM!

I have a similar bed, but I haven't used it yet. how did you get a bed on it? Slats? Did you just place the box spring on top? I'm at a loss.

Thanks and DARLING home!

Anna and Cailean:

We just set the box spring and mattress on the iron railings. It is perfectly sturdy. I think eventually we'll fasten wooden slats or a platform to the frame but for now this is working great.
