Feeling Resolute Ten Times Over in Twenty Ten

1. I will get out of bed when the first child comes to fetch the Mama in the morning.
2.  I will pray always.
3.  I will set up the easel and begin some paintings
4.  I will exercise my rear into submission (and by association, thighs too)
5.  I will search for opportunities to teach my children anything and everything
6.  I will read twice as much as I did in "oh nine".
7.  I will make the family's first "job chart"
8.  I will find the good
9.  I will live the now
10.  I will care less for the mess.

I want to collect 100 of your resolutions.  Leave one here, let's see if we can get one-hundred by lunchtime Monday.

I want to be the one to suggest doing fun things together so it is not always the kiddies doing the asking.

I will learn how to make homemade salsa that is sought after and coveted because it is so burn-your-mouth lip smacking good.

my one pledge is to strive more toward this:

"Organize yourselves; prepare every needful thing, and establish a house, even a house of prayer, a house of fasting, a house of faith, a house of learning, a house of glory, a house of order, a house of God."

-Doctrine and Covenants 109:8

good luck with yours and happy 2010!

Go to bed earlier so I can be a happy mom when my kids wake me up at 6:00.

I am also going to do a job chart- Have you looked at myjobchart.com ?? Just an idea (I think Lucy and Seth would love it)!

Great idea, Jordan!

I will take ACTION - not just think of doing good, but actually DO it!

Also, our family's theme for 2010 is healthy mind, healthy body, healthy heart. We will do all kinds of mental, physical, and charitable exercises. We will take action! Bring on 2010. Hope it's a good one for all the Mangums!

Just found you today and think you're just perfection! I'm a mom of four as well and I just love what you have to say, how you say it, and am so glad you're here.

I resolve to find contentment, which isn't hard because it's right in front of me.

Can't wait to read more!

I want to comment on the blogs I read, not just lurk. I want to run The River Run (a race in Jacksonville). I also want to play with my kids more and clean less. Read my sciptures with more intent. Enjoy cooking again! Those are just a few from my list!
(i'm in katy's ward) and have loved reading your blog for some time. Happy New Year!

Marina said...

Hi Jordan, Happy 2010 to you and your family. I have two resolutions for you...
Firstly, to comment more on blogs that I read. It sounds so silly to have as a New Years resolution, but there are some blogs (like yours) that I have enjoyed for months now that I have never commented on, and I think if a blogger has taken the time to write something that I enjoy or makes me think or has taken a gorgeous photograph, then the least that I can do is log on and comment.
Secondly is that I am going to sort, edit, print and put into albums all of my children's photos from 2009. Yes, I am a year behind....eeek!

Marina said...

Me again...I just saw that Nicol wants to delurk too, so maybe it's not a silly resolution after all!

Change my perspective. For instance- When my son comes crashing through our picture window like last week-feel only gratitude that everyone was unharmed. Do NOT think of how the heck we can replace it or why in the world he was playing starwars by pushing on the window!

Read the BoM all the way through! Oh, and visit the Utah Mangum's for the first time out at their place. If we can squeeze in the NC Mangum's, and the Ohio Crew we'll do that too.

Love you!

I will savor the water in my half-full glass. I will ignore the half-empty part of my glass, and not pay so much attention to the water in other people's glasses.

I will make a conscious effort to journal my thoughts and mind ramblings so that I can turn those little treasures into blog posts!

Missed the deadline, but better late than never, right? ;)

'Reverence' is our family theme this year and will help us to work toward our goals.

Me personally...
Become the mother of four munchkins.
Seek service.
Play on the whim.
Pray and repent more often.

weekly planning sessions with the professor. We call them PCM (parent counsel meeting). We follow parliamentary procedure and keep minutes to keep me interested since I have the attention of a seven year old and since calendering, budgeting and writing task lists is my version of eternal torment. We abandoned the habit a few years back and we are lost without it. I move that we have PCM every week. I second the motion. So there you have it. PCM for twenty ten.
