Sunshine in Sparta!! (and S'mores)

Mr. and Mrs. Duane Henderson live in Lewisville, NC--a superior small town.  I met Kim in Provo when I was twelve years old.  We've been friends ever since.  Good friends.  The kind, I'm finding, that don't come around as often as you'd like.  The kind that offer to take all FOUR of your kids for a week so you can go to Korea to visit your parents.  Too kind.  The stars aligned amazingly and we both found ourselves less than 1/2 a tank of gas away from each other in the "Garden of Eden" (North Carolina ya'll)

We spent Saturday with these kind of friends and were lucky enough to still have Uncle Jacob along for the ride (in the back stuffed between Seth and Lucy).  Our mission: head to Sparta, NC to cut down a Christmas Tree fit for Cicada Cottage.  Along the way, we enjoyed good food (grilled Panini with bacon!), frolics amid rows and rows of "ripe" Fraser Firs, bags of chips from some kind stranger, a moonrise, 60-degree weather, hot apple cider, and just when it couldn't get any more picturesque and perfect...s'mores around the fire pit back at the Henderson Homestead.

One of these years we will cut down a tree of our own.

It is true. Good friends are hard to find, but when you do- you keep them close. And then you call them to watch your kids so you can go to Korea. They always say yes and you know that if they ever called you would do the same.

So happy you are going to Korea.

Why don't I live a 1/2 tank of gas away from you?
I really want to.

See you in a week and a half.
