"Be OK" (a January Giveaway)

Dear Readers,
"Be OK". That's the title of my new *mix tape* (I was a teen of the nineties).
It's a gift for my friend Nie. But I love you, too. Though I don't know you, because you're there, I'm glad. So, I'm making three extra copies to give to you. You know the drill (leave a comment, etc., etc.). I'll announce the winners Monday night (January 19th) right after dinner, which, for all you know, could be Creamy Polenta with Roasted Vegetable Ragout. Except that was last night's dinner...and today's lunch...and tonight's dinner. Leftovers pretty much rule.

Basically, I want to know who you are. And, I want you to be able to scrub your toilets and run up and down the stairs fifty times with the sort of joy I experienced today while I and my ipod Shuffle, well, shuffled. Please don't be shy. For Pete's sake, I'm not.

Brendon's sisters? Jorge Pace? Jim? Debra? The creepy guy from Lost? Angie? Dave? Panooch? Trisha? Penelope? Someone in Switzerland? My old Bishop Mitch? Diesel Crocket? (Okay, I'm making up names now).

Come out come out whoever you are. I'm serious, yo!

All My Love,

Jordan (Mrs. Gooch)

"Me feeding the Lola" (bang photo per Miss Thalman's request)

**For a sweet taste of what's in store just push play in my sidebar--oh wait--you don't have to.

Me! Pick me! I'm a long time reader though I don't comment much. I'm usually nursing a baby at the keyboard (does a 14 month old still count as a baby?) so I don't have a lot of fingers free to type. But I do have a blog if you want to know more. =)

i'm just a lurker who lurks often. Just a thirtysomthing, SAHM mom of three. I guess you can consider this my adult interaction, if you can call this interaction ;-)

BTW LOVE your blog!

Hi. My name is Jeni. I love Nerds (the candy...but the people, too). I rolled my ankle today one mile into my three mile run. I stepped in doggie poo tonight and got it in my new car, which I coincidentally vacuumed and cleaned today. I recently discovered a new cereal that I LOVE: Special K Cinnamon and Pecans. I drink a spinach/berry smoothie every morning for breakfast. (Notice a lot of this is surrounding food?) I hate when people use "alot" instead of
"a lot." It's a grammatical pet peeve (I'm not grammatically anal, this one thing bugs me, though). I hate it when people abbreviate Louisiana (LA) with an "LO." Okay, enough love/hate...I think I need to go to bed.

P.S. I love my bed.

I am a lurker as well. I have never commented. I found your blog through Nie about a year ago. She blogged about a dinner your families shared. I couldn't resist following the link. I am a mother of two living in San Francisco and I like the music on your sidebar.

I'm delurking as well. If we were playing six degrees of separation, we'd probably be a 3...

Jordan I love your taste in music more than anyone else. PLEASE draw my name. Thank you very much. AND I appreciated the last blog give away from you so much. The lemon curd was secretly eaten by the spoonful on the back steps in less than 24 hours.

Hi from your fellow Trader Joe's fan in Indiana. I am hoping that you are not far from a TJ's in your new neighborhood. Thanks for turning me on to SouleMama too.

because i really need to listen to some "adult" music...

i think i have been reading since the beginning. in fact you are the one who inspired my own personal blog, but then i just don't have the time or creativity to put much into it presently. maybe good music would do the trick??

You know me- I'm a friend of Jeni and Aaron. We once had Thanksgiving dinner together at Carl and Paula's but I don't know if you remember that or not. Seth was still itty bitty then! Love your blog especially all of your poetic descriptions and beautiful pictures. It's very Nie!

Pick me! Pick me! Love the bangs! I had bangs for 22 years! You pull them off well, Ms. Jordan. You are a natural beauty.

I read. I have commented before (at least on the pretzels I think- those are a staple around here now so thank you!) But I still read and marvel and absorb inspiration from you.

Hi - love your blog. Can you post your recipe for the creamy polenta with vegetables please??
thanks!!

I'm a lurker as well...I know your sister, Katy. I almost commented once about the peanut butter allergy scandal, but decided you handled it well enough, but I had your back. Great idea with the give-away to de-lurk your readers. I might have to do the same! Now that we are acquainted, I will have to comment more often!

Hi Jordan. I'm a long time reader but first time commenter. I was always too nervous to comment before, but since you asked... :) I found your blog about eight months ago, and I was hooked after your "splendid inconvenience" post left me in tears. Your blog inspires me, and makes me laugh. I seriously look up to you- and I can tell you're a great mom, and you have such a cute style! I'm majoring in English Literature and I'm jealous that you have your English degree, and I think you are a great writer. Basically I think you're awesome and I want to be more like you! I'd love some of your favorites on my IPod library.

I play your sidebar all the time. I keep finding old favorites, I have the album Flood memorized, my first concert.

You have a lot of readers! I am Brendon's little sister and although you and I have never met, you have met the rest of my family. They absolutely adore your children and told me to look at your blog. I love music, especially new music. You should pick me!

andrea said...

I am delurking too. I have read your blog for a couple of years now. I am guessing that I found you from Jenny Clouse's Tulane Connection on her sidebar. I'm embarassed to think that I've been visiting for that long and have never commented. Thanks for the chance to introduce myself.

HI Jordan-
I check with in your everyday but leave few comments. Sometimes I get tired of hearing my own voice speak and just want to hear others. ;)

I know we have similar taste in music because just about everything you play on your site I have on my iPod....LOL!

Hey Jordan,
count me in for the giveaway--Ginna from High School.
I'm not technically a lurker, I think I commented once before, but I enjoy your blog. You and your family are so adorable.

TX Girl said...

You know who I am. But I'm sure there are days people prefer I was a "lurker" and not a "commenter".

Love the bangs.

This must be BIG news if you posted it on a Saturday. (kisses)

Love mix tapes, although I'm terrible at putting them together.

Natalie said...

Wow Jordan! Quite the following here!. So I'm just adding my name to your list, but have to admit I had sweet flutterings inside when I read the words "mixed tape." Those were the years.

Miss you guys-

Natalie

I've also been a lurker for awhile! Even though I was a teen of the 80's, I'd love to have your 90's picks!

Julia said...

I don't think I count as a lurker because you know I'm reading your blog. I love the bangs!

Susannah said...

Hi Jordan, I found your blog after I found Nie's through Soule Mama. At first I was just captivated by your tales of motherhood (I am expecting my first child), and then I shamelessly also used you for some great tunes while doing other tasks on the computer. I bought the Rachel Yamagata CD after hearing Elephants. Anyway, you have a beautiful family and I enjoy your writing here in Nashville (also, my parents live on the Outer Banks...don't know if you all have made it out there yet!)

Does knowing you for nearly a decade now up my chances just a bit? I've received your mix tapes in the mail before (always such a pleasant surprise) and I would surely enjoy another.

And those bangs...you did it! I remember you talking about it on our trip in the Smokies. I really, really like them on you. I think I would like just about anything on you. (now I am kissing up...does that up my chances any?)

P.S. I too want the recipe...I just bought some polenta at my local Trader Joe's on Saturday and I need help knowing just what to do with it.

Katy said...

wait for meeeeeeeee!

I'm a lurker too and have completely forgotten the connection that lead me to you. I enjoy your honesty and creativity, so I just keep coming back for more.

I'm a stay at home mom. I love reading blogs, can't wait to find out if you get the farmhouse, and I wish I could eat at your house everyday! Seriously, you need to share some of your recipes!!!
