Sunday Stroll

That dried leaf baking in the sun smell mixed with crunchy pine and cool air--there was never enough of that to breathe in. In the mountains, the Fall was a flash of color and crispness and barely had time to drop her leaves before Winter claimed the rest of nature's living with its frost. Now, here, Fall takes her sweet, earthy time and lets the scents soak in and the colors absorb. I can't get enough of it. And, it seems, I'll have plenty of time to try.

This weekend's walk around our neighborhood and the tobacco trail that runs through it was---well, fantastic. We tossed rocks into the stream, found the old old bent and buried train tracks from when tobacco was toted through these parts. We shook the leaves from toddler-sized trees.

Craig carried babies, I gathered snapshots.

of the little people I made, sitting in the leaves

Finally, Avery gave us our cue to head home. (who, by the way, cut a tooth, now plays peek-a-boo, and can roll from one end of the room to the other)
