Celebrating alone tonight, though before I sent Craig off to mend more mangled ankles and swollen, infected fingers, etc., etc., (do you want pictures, because i have them?) I made him dine on our traditional New Year's Eve fare: black-eyed-peas and greens (I couldn't find collards so these are turnip).
Our little family took root in New Orleans, in the deep South where the beans are usually red and they are usually eaten Mondays--with rice--but for a bit of luck and a few bucks in the new year they eat this: the cheapest, healthiest holiday meal ever. Though we won't turn our noses up at neither luck nor money, our true wish for 2008 is to strengthen those roots wherever we may land next.
Here's toasting you (with chocolate milk because I forgot to pick up the bubbly) that same strength plus happiness and health!! Happy New Year!!!!
