Sweet Rain and a Red Christmas

Still on the lookout for Seth's, here are Lucy's and Hazel's ornaments this year. They will unwrap them the day we bring the tree home from up north to kick off our tree decorating. Yes, there will be hot chocolate with marshmallows (I'm even attempting homemade this year). Come join us!

Hazel and I went out today to find a dress to wear to any upcoming holiday parties, photos, or events that is decent, darling, and able to accommodate an expanding belly. No luck, but we stumbled upon some red ornaments to go with our Red Christmas. And then drove home in a 5-minute cloudburst. We happily wound down the windows to partake. Hey, our little town has only been sent under 3" of rain THIS WHOLE YEAR. Does this mean winter is finally settling upon our charming desert?

Last year we decorated with cheery yellow and accents of baby blue. The effect was stunning against our cornflower walls. The jury's still out on the accent color for this year. Whoever comes up with the perfect accent to our Red Christmas gets an ornament in the mail!! So suggest away!

LAST YEAR'S Mangum Christmas tree 2006 (chopped down in the forest by Woodsman Craig)

*What color will YOUR Christmas be? She's been collecting orange decor for three years now, and Her's will be a shimmery Green.

Do a pale pink for your accent. That would be neat. I think I'm skipping Thanksgiving and going straight to Christmas this year, not the part about giving thanks, just the part about the turkey. We're having the RS Christmas Enrichment here, so I need it all decorated early (by the 6th) I'm excited for my ORANGE CHRISTMAS!

Everything in my house is red and silver for the holidays. It's a little hard to find ornaments sometimes since red is usually paired with gold or green, but the effect is stunning. The silver reflects the light and the red adds richness. I get a lot of ideas from Pottery Barn which always seems to incorperate red in paint colors, drapery, furnishings and around Christmas, decorations. Red is such a passionate color. Whatever you pick will be beautiful for sure. Maybe colors of a peacock would be pretty. I love the blues, turqouises and lime greens and those colors would make your walls and tree pop!

I guess I missed the part where you said 'Red Christmas'! in that case, you couldn't do peacock colors because that would look atrocious together. Maybe a royal purple would be fun and look very rich. Can you imagine beautiful red paper tied up with velvety purple ribbon? Gorgeous!

My vote would be a chocolate brown or bronzey color.

I love that you do a different tree yearly. And I love purple with red the most.

We have been LOVING our cloudy, spotty raining day. Perhaps we really will cool off in time for Thanksgiving!

Wasn't your dr.'s appt today? I'm excited to hear what you're having!

PS I think you meant 2006 in your caption, no?

Yes yes, that tree was from LAST year--2006! Sorry to confuse.

I agree with above comments on pale pink- or even a hotter pink, aqua or turquoise, even a right shade of orange would work or a combo? How fun!

I love your 2006 tree. I vote for gray. It would have to be silver, I guess, because is there really just gray around the holidays?
I love everyone's suggestions - brown, purple, pink... I can't wait to see what you come up with!

i've got it--a deep Tiffany blue. looks smashing with red. last year, my husband got me a gift from there for our anniversary (which is just one week before Christmas) and it was in the blue box with a satin red bow. i absolutely LOVED the look of that.

I was going to say white too. Love those ornaments.

We are not doing a tree this year, due to a very last minute decision to go to Utah. Before the change in plans, this years colors were going to be clear glass and white.

I just made a stained glass star of red points with a lime green center.
It was the first to go out of about 200 that we sold at Gigi Arrington's house yesterday at her star party.
So RED&LIME on the tree, Pomegranates and Limes on the table. I'll even make you a lime and red star for the top of the tree.
Love,
Dad

Ashonthelawn! I pick you! Actually I pick Torquoise...it just struck a cord with me as soon as I read it. It would be perfect and I already have some torquoise stuff I could use. Email me with your address and your ornament is on its way (you may specify a certain color, of course!)

I went to babyGap the other day, and they had all of this beautiful clothing in red and chocolate brown. It was stunning. That said, I adore red and aqua together. My ornaments are red, lime green, and orange. Can't wait to see your finished tree!
