Butting Heads and Creamed Corn

I'm sorry but these are the things on my mind today. (Besides the really weird visiting teaching handout I got telling me to check the box next to any one of a number of excuses for not doing my visiting teaching then sign, detach and mail to your Heavenly Father. A little bit sacrilegious and a little bit disturbing, but hey, someone is just trying to magnify, right?) So, Lucy has it in for me. of course I know she is only two and doesn't really have it in for me...but she has it in for me. I'm hoping this too will pass--very quickly. Also, I made this today and it warmed my heart and belly, I just had to share--you can NEVER go wrong with cream and butter--oh, and fresh ground black pepper. Happy brand new week, y'all!

What a strange handout! Stuff like that makes me feel so uncomfortable. Having a daughter with so much spunk is so tricky- just thinking of Lucy makes me smile so so spunky!

OK, I love you for that website you linked. Ah, food. Aidan & I butt heads CONSTANTLY. Most days Jim comes home to my constant question "why do I fight with a 3-year-old?" Hm.

did you love last night's storming??!

Lucy IS a little fireball...I absolutely love her! It makes me wonder how Calyn's going to turn out. It makes me sad to think that I'll fight with her one day...and I know I will. I love my mom to death AND fought with her occasionally.

Did you check the box "I don't do my visiting teaching because I got weirded out by a VT flyer that I was suppose to mail to God."?

Jeni, yes, that is the box I would check for sure!!!

Um, that handout is unbelievable. Did she include postage, because rates have gone up and you can't go willy nilly mailing things to heaven...

I guess she was trying to make an impression?

That is a disturbing handout. That is an idea that they should have talked themselves out of before it hit the copier machine.
My son is often out to get me also. I try to remember that the characteristics that are trying now will make him so amazing when he is grown.
That corn dish looks amazing!

The Saturday morning conference talk, October 2006, O Be Wise. By Elder Ballard was brought to my memory when I read about your VT handout. He states guilt is not a proper motivater.
I love your Angle. We have great corn stands here and I am looking forward to this dish. Thanks.
Hope you don't mind me reading.

I think Eva has it in for me too. A woman at church today said, "She's just a little pistol, isn't she?" That's one way to put it. The VT handout sounds strange indeed.

Thanks for the link to that cooking blog, it looks soooo good!!

Well, the church is still true despite us. I love Lucy! She's fisty for a reason so hang on.

um...are you kidding me? that sounds like something my ward would do and i often feel as though our ward must be the weirdest ward ever! i would be soooo turned off by that. it reminds me a bit of when i was in my last ward and my supervisor walked up to me one sunday morning and said something to the effect, "would you just rather be released until there is a time you can do it?" i agreed although i felt a bit badly that i was released from being a vt! also a little confused that the bishop's wife who would drop cookies off every quarter got to keep her "calling." (don't get me wrong, i'm not knocking the cookies...i loved them!). that note is seriously crazy though.

hang in there with lucy. sorry you feel she has it out for you. that is so hard. my hanna SCREAMED for about 10 minutes in nursery and it was so loud that even the nursery leader (my friend) said, "wow, she can really scream!" this with eyes WIDE open. yes, it's true, my hanna can really scream.

thanks for the cooking link. i always feel as though i'm in a rut. perhaps it's just that i don't enjoy the cooking "planning" so much.

ok, so I was being nosey and found your blog. I have to admit I agree with you on the handout but it gave me a good chuckle. I don't think I'd have the guts to copy and hand it out, but it is rather funny.

Oh my, that visiting teaching flyer sounds scary. The supervisor must be at her wit's end and trying to get everyone's attention, it sounds like it's working though possibly not in the way she wanted it to work.

That corn casserole looks tasty.
