Tiny Hooker

You've heard of Elton's croon "Tiny Dancer", well, my Dad is married to a tiny hooker. Here is her latest creation. Marvelous marvelous. These portraits au fabrique are of my grandmother. This, is true creation, art at its finest, as far as I am concerned. And...I AM concerned--only that they will be appreciated for the fabulousness that they are. For your viewing pleasure...

My parents are artists for a living. So, they are for sale. They also have stuff in galleries and various shows.

These are really amazing. The detail she managed to capture is really something.

The title killed me. Tiny hooker. Seriously. I am beyond amazed at those portraits (and the one of you on your wall). True art, indeed. It's not surprising at all that you come from these two people. Please continue to share their work.

You are hilarious, Jordan! These are beautiful. This reminds me of hanging out at your parents's house during our BYU days. What it must have been like to grow up in their house. I agree with Amy- not at all surprising that you are their daughter.

I have loved everything that I have seen of your parents work- they are so talented. I am curious how tiny are these actually are?

Your mom is amazing! I love seeing what she does!

Chanel, it is actually the "hooks" of "yarn" in wool that are tiny compared to regular rug-hooking (wool strips in burlap). These are probably (guessing here) around 12X12.

How would that be to have artistic parents? So cool.

I love the art and the name is hilarious.

Actually these Tiny Hooker pieces are only 5X7 inches---thus the tiny part. I use very fine wool yarn with a needle punch that can be adjusted to different lengths.
I then trim the loops, leaving some and cutting most which causes a modeled look.

Truly amazing. I also must mention how much I just enjoyed listening to "Jump" by the pointer sisters. Today is going to be a good day.
