Five...

...months old today...
All three littles go down at the same time, 6. But, often, Hazel will wake around 8 for a "topping off" as we lovingly call this feeding. It is as if she knows the olders are in bed and a snack now means undivided attention from mom. Well, she's right and I happily comply as she and I coo at eachother after several sucks and two burps (one big and one little, always). Then, after we've had our chat she squirms in bed, flips to her tummy and snoozes for the night--yes, the whole night. We are in a happy place...today. Happy five months my sweet smiley Hazel Rae.

Beautiful, beautiful girl. Five months already? We call that final nightly feeding "topping off" too! Jordan, I love the way you describe your children. Oh, they are lucky, lucky littles to have you!

What a sweet little face. Five months! We used to call that feeding a "topping off" too, and it still occasionally happens -- though now with a sippy cup instead of a bottle. Still as sweet a stolen moment.

We would call it topping off also. That expression just works doesn't it?

She is beautiful! I always loved a little rock and a chat just before the final bed.

A 6:00 bedtime, a little one-on-one with Hazel, and a full night of sleep? You are in a good place! Congratulations to all.

I envy your 6 o'clock bed time. Aidan has suddenly decided he doesn't want to go to bed at night.

Love those tender alone times. So beautifully written.

Oh, she is darling Jordan! I too love those moments alone with the little babe while the older kids are in bed. Those precious moments where they can finally get all of you. After the hustle and bustle of dinner, bath and bed is over and done. Then finally that chance you wait for all day. You and your little baby alone.

Oh she is so darn cute! Can't believe she is five months old and I haven't had the chance to meet her face to face. Why do we live so far apart? We too use the term "topping off" (well, my mom and I do, Mac says he thinks it sounds like I am filling up my car with gas rather than feeding a baby). I am relieved to hear than even baby #3 gets her share of one on one time. I am worried that my upcoming arrival will be cheated in that area all together when I think about all the time it currently takes to care for the 2 I already have.

I can't believe she's 5 months already! That went fast (for me at least). How sweet to think of her waking up for alone time with you, and what a blessing that she's sleeping through the night. I'm so glad you're in a happy place.

Sara, it took number three for me to actually enjoy those night feedings. It is such a calm soothing time after refereeing two toddlers all day. You will love it.

I, too, have found I enjoy the baby stage more with each one. That Hazel is already a charmer--I'd like to meet her and introduce her to her color cousin...SOON!

SOON, Katy???? Does this mean your coming to visit?????

So beautiful. I agree with you about the quiet night feedings. I certainly enjoyed them the 3rd time around. How awesome though that she's sleeping through the night.
