(Self) Portrait

This is not me around town. There are no historic sites (though our trash can is pretty old), and no famous people live where I live--except, of course Lucy Fae the neighborhood charmer. But, this is where we spend the hours of our days (at, near, or around our house). There is usually someone napping at some time during the day, so we are--what do they say?--tied down. I have surrendered myself to this bondage and enjoy the unexpected freedoms it contains: jammies all day?--you got it! head to toe in sand and wet?--feel free! Breakfast for lunch? Driveway drag races?--count us in! So, this portraiture, contains one of my "littles", some cacti, and a lot of sand. Our world. So small, yet somehow feels so huge.

I love your creativity...somehow sweeping by the bitter to embrace the sweet. "Lucy Fae the neighborhood charmer"...my favorite line by far.

I too know the feeling of the bondage you are referring to. I have embraced it over the years and actually really love being home with no where to go.

Darling photo.

That picture is so sweet. Hey, we have all been tied down at one time in our lives right? There truely is no place like home. Can't wait to see you tomorrow and break out of the pj's.

i wondered about taking a photo just in my house myself. Unfortunately, I don't really have the excuse of being tied down. But home is where we are happiest and most comfortable.

I had the same thought... I was going to take a photo of one of my favorite haunts with Lulu. Although- the fact that you ARE with the neighborhood charmer does help with the assignment.

I love that y'all use littles. I have always used bebe, but I am loving littles.

Lara, "Littles" is an Amy S. invention that I snatched up readily!

I think this is a very fitting portrait. This is that season of life -- sand, naps, and driveway races. Sweet photo!

This is a darling picture Jordan. I think every mother understands the bondage you're talking about, but I love that you've surrendered to it and are celebrating the freedoms that come with it.

I can't believe you got a photo of the famous Lucy Fae. Lucky! Tied down, yes. Good for you for enjoying your current state. Your world is huge, my dear.

That photo is great. You look so happy and I bet if we could see Lucy's face she would look happy also.
