Alas, One saved, One lost

Jenny, this deed will do you proud. I went for a run around the neighborhood and found this lost beagle. His owner had driven by a day earlier looking for him. He followed me home with some encouragement. We gave him some pepperoni slices and water in the backyard then called the number on his tag. His owner came, relieved, that evening.

Then, upon finding another creature, I killed it with great pleasure as I recalled Lucy's fateful attack on Sunday. He was quite a large one hiding under a ceramic pot in our living room (the ceramic pot Lucy is always getting in, the ceramic pot I'm always telling her to get out of!!!) May he rest in peace with his other stinging comrade! Aaaargh!

Oh Jordan! How sweet of you to care for that lost dog. What a good neighbor you are! And that scorpion! I shared Lucy's story with a friend the other day only to find out that we too have scorpions here in Florida! Yikes! I love all creatures, but really, those scorpions are just too frightening! That photo gave me chills!!!

Yikes! Spotting two so close together. Scary. I am always checking the beds before the kids climb in looking foe centipedes.

How does Lucy react to seeing scorpions now? I know Olive is alarmingly afraid of a fruit fly, and can only imagine her reaction if she encountered a scorpion!

Hurray for the saved Beagle!!!!!
I am glad you found the scorpion before Lucy did. Another one so soon!!!! Argh is right!

Oh, I can't believe you found another scorpion so soon! Are you just on edge about them now? Scary scary!

Yea for you, saving the beagle! Poor little lost hound, and I'm sure his family was so thankful! I love that you fed him pepperoni.

Cute little dog. I'm sure his owner was most grateful.

I found Eva screaming a couple of days ago because she spied an ant crawling around just inside the front door. Wonder how she would react to a scorpion? I don't think I would do too well...

That is so sweet. And that is actually the kind of dog I want!! Kill that scorpion and may he never come back! (that's what Doug says when he kills things he hates). He used to do that to our roaches in Nola. And now he does it with wasps--they are everywhere here!

Good deed indeed! :)

Jord - I would group scorpions in the same miserable category as roaches, except I think your pests are even worse since they STING YOU! So, so, so sorry one had the nerve to set up house under your vase. Very wrong indeed. Glad you found him and showed him the door! Scorpions, STAY AWAY FROM MY FRIENDS! There, you should be totally safe from now on now.:)

Are YOu KIdding?! I am stunned that you found yet another scorpion. I think your tally is higher than mine and I'm native Arizonan. You must be pretty irresistable.

In your living room???? I'm officially freaked out, also in awe of your She-Mommy bravery at killing it!

Do you have a black light? I keep thinking about your scorpion sightings and poor little Lucy. I found some on the internet for only $10.

i love this story of the beagle and the lucky owner.

and jordan, i think of you whenever i see a spider in our house. i despise spiders but you give me strength to take on the situation b/c of your battles. i think if you can handle a scorpion i can handle a spider. Oh my! :)
