Shhhhhhh....

...Daddy's sleeping.
I say this about 435 times a day. Dr. Gooch is on a week of nights (this entails me sleeping alone, and him sleeping during the day until it's time to put the kids in bed). We try to fill our days up with "out-of-the-house" activities and are not always successful. Sometimes I wonder why I put forth this often futile effort and then think of him on his feet all night getting covered in vomit, blood, and all sorts of other bodily fluids you wish would stay inside the body, including brain matter (last night). I would like a quiet house to rest in after such an evening. I do not make light of these people's injuries, but I'm grateful I spend my days--or nights, as the case may be, with my own children in a peaceful home and not in a county ER.
So, I organized Seth's closet. Thanks to red .99 bins from IKEA (yet to be labeled) and metal shelves from Target. Lucy and Hazel napped so I joined Seth in his "quiet time" to get this little task accomplished. I'm quite pleased.

Also, to get me through this week of night shifts and a day-sleeping daddy, i bought myself some orchids at Trader Joe's. They work perfectly in my fish vases. Pure delight, all for $4.

We all cheer when Dr. Gooch comes forth from his tomb of slumber. Hazel reclines on her Dad, perusing the National Geographic. True bonding!

That would be so hard to keep my kids quiet...they are unbelievably loud. I love to organize closets and find such satisfaction from getting it done. Yours looks great and that first photo...darling.

The closet looks great. I am headed to Ikea on Friday. I can't wait. That is pure happiness, especially when I can go sans kids. I will have to look for some red bins. Those would work perfect on some built in shelves in my kids closets.
I love the orchids. They do look perfect in the fish vases. I still think those are very cool. I bought my self a big smelly apple candle for the kitchen recently. I thought, I don't make these kind of purchases for myself enough. Small and simple pleasures.

I'm not familiar with ER resident schedules, but do the residents have night schedules most of the time? Mike has a month of ER coming up here in March and his schedule consists of mostly all nights! I suppose I will soon feel as you do.

I love Seth's closet! I am a bin freak, so I definitely appreciate your hard work and organization!

That picture of Hazel is darling!

What a challenge to keep kiddos quiet or out of the house all day!

Here's to a FAST week!

That would be a huge challenge to keep the house quiet all day. Does Craig sleep with ear plugs? I enjoy doing errands, but I don't think I would be able to find enough out-of-the house stuff to fill up a whole week! Good luck to you all.

I love the orchids, can't believe they were only $4!

Argh, the night shifts... You are lovely to make such an effort for him. I am sure he appreciates it! I loved all of your photos today - especially hazel hanging out with Dad!

Way to go on the organizing and score on the new red tubs. We often cheer when Doug works nights from his tomb too. Hip Hip Hurray--the dead has risen.

Love the photo of Seth--too cute.

All I can do is sympathize. Keeping 3 children quiet all day must me quite the challenge.
I can't wait for IKEA to open here later this year. I have never stepped foot in one, or Trader Joe's.

I adore your fish vases. Where in the world did you come by those? That's a crazy schedule. My boys would have no ability to restrain themselves if they knew Dad was in the house. That would make the day double difficult.

Very cute photos!

How MANY times have I said the same thing? It's jsut a bad situation all the way around, so cheers Jordan, for trying to make the best of it! Seth's closet looks terrific! Good show! It feels so nice to get things all binned up (in RED no less) and out of the way, neatly organized. You definitley deserve some flowers. Seeing them floating happily in their fish vases makes me smile.

Wishing you a quick, quiet week!

Jordan,
Love the flowers, nothing like them to brighten up a day. Hazel is cuter everytime I see a new pic of her! I kinda think her little make shift seat looks cozy. It is hard to keep the kiddos quiet. . . thank heavens Mac could sleep through a train rumbling through our house, the dude is one deep sleeper. . . even more so since residency has started. I just re-organized all my kitchen cabinets. . . oh it feels so great! Seth's closet looks fabulous! You are a busy woman.

I got the vases 75% off at Anthropologie!!! Such a steal. I had been eyeing them since they appeared in the catalog.

Oh Jordan-- you are an amazing woman. I can't ever be quiet when Eric is trying to sleep (and there is only one of me). What fun I have to look forward to.

I love the orchids, and those are awesome vases-- what a steal.

I can't even imagine how difficult it must be to try to keep the kids quiet or outside of the house all day so Craig can sleep. You guys need to rig your room up with lots of white noise (a loud fan perhaps) and perhaps some heavy tapestries on your bedroom walls so as to make it more of a sleeping chamber.

The closet looks great. I wish our IKEA was ready.
