I Am Starting a Movement...

I haven't "made" any new year's resolutions. Only thought, "Oh, that would be a good one." But, I made one today.

This year, I will clean less.

It's a hard one to fulfill, I know. Yet, I'm determined not to live a life full of touchable toilets, shiny sinks, and cleared counters empty of skills earned, hands crafting, and pursuits pursued. I will clean less, bead more. I will clean less, read more. I will clean less make more. I will clean less cook more yummy food. I will not be a slob, but I will certainly--clean--less.

Anyone care to join me?

Sounds like a plan to me. Umm except I have a problem OCD that is. Any suggestions?? My friend has the best quote ever it reads "Cleaning up after kids is like shoveling snow while it's still snowing" Oh, so true but yet I do it anyway. Doug actually quoted this to me today. I just shrugged and kept on working. I need to take more lessons from you, that sounds like a GREAT goal!

Welcome to my world! Call me if you lose your nerve. My best motherhood decision by far, picking yahtzee over the vacuum. A level of cleanliness is required for sanity and health, and the rest can be accomplished in between art projects and lego towers. I'll be interested to see how it goes for you!

I love it. I have been a member of this movement for some time now. It's the only way I ever get anything fun accomplished!

I agree, they will remember building forts, I sure do. They will only remember how clean the bathroom is or isn't if the Health Dept. comes in...

I'd like to say I was going to join you, but I don't know if I'm capable. Of course, your time is in much greater demand with 3 tiny kids than mine is, so our cleaning times are not valued equally. I think it will be liberating for you, just keep us posted on how this affects (or doesn't affect) your mental health!

I'm in. Of course I'm in! You should see my computer desk! But we ate cake today and that's so much more important than a clean desk. Slobs we are not, just more fun, right?

That is pretty much my motto over here. Hope it goes well for you!

I love a clean home, but a fun one too! I love Jenny's quote - "Cleaning up after kids is like shoveling snow while it's still snowing" - SO TRUE! I suppose this is one of every mother's challenges - finding a happy medium between fun and cleanliness. I hope to find this happy medium through my journey as a mother. (That toy room sure likes fun and I LOVE Seth's green chair.)

Oh this cracked me up...definitely not a goal I need. Maybe we could meet somewhere in the middle of chaos & compulsive for happy medium. That, I should work on.

Love reading your stuff...

This might be the best idea you've come up with yet. I'm on board. I'm afraid my kids don't know where their toys are, not because they lost them but rather because they are never where they left them. Why? because their mom is constantly putting them away.
